Should friendship be mandatory politeness ?

Yes, in the sense that a friend feels motivated to inform and guide his friends. One should consider the feelings of others, but also their actual best interests. It would not be friendship to let someone step into a bear trap even if he wanted to. Of course you would be polite when you could.
