What must a person do (activities, tasks, responsibilities); to be considered; either an atheist or a theist?

I agree to a degree I have met other atheists who appear to be such not through years of experience and learning but just because, those people give all of us a bad name there are religious people who claim that their belief is through this logical process but get into deeper conversation and it becomes apparent that they don't really know what it even means to be logical
